All the game’s scoring came in the first period as the Cataracts, from the Central West Senior Hockey League, received goals from Andre Gill and Stephen Simms, a defenceman who was moved up front during the Cataracts’ league final against the Clarenville Caribous.

Defenceman Brandon Roach, one of four Caribous added to the Cataracts’ roster, joining Ryan Desrosiers, Stuart MacRae and netminder Jason Churchill, was the player of the game.

The Cataracts, making their third straight Allan Cup appearance, lost to the Caribous in Game 7 of the Central West league final last month.

Grand Falls-Windsor is off today, but plays Lacombe, Alta. 8:30 p.m. (NL time) Wednesday.
