Flyers squeak out overtime win against Cataracts

Published on January 14, 2017

What was shaping up as shoo-in victory for the Kelly Ford Gander Flyers turned into a big question mark on Saturday night went facing the Grand Falls Winsor Cataracts.

After two periods of play at the Steele Community Centre, the Flyers were sitting comfortably with a 6-2 lead.

However, the Cats would make a move in the third, netting the tying goal with just 13 seconds on the clock to force overtime.

Scott Doody would be the eventual hero for the hometown Flyers as he capitalized on a key opportunity to pick up an overtime winner.

The weekend series continues Sunday (Jan. 15) at the Steele Community with the puck drop scheduled for 1:30 p.m..
