The provincial government's budget announcement of a new apprentice mentorship program is good news for the home building industry, says the Canadian Home Builders Association Newfoundland and Labrador.
Craig Williams, President of CHBA-NL said the home building industry has a difficult time attracting and retaining skilled workers.
"We are very pleased with the direction this government is taking in the areas of apprenticeship and skills development. The new funding announced in this budget will ensure a strong workforce for the future and continue to contribute to our growing economy".

The residential construction industry is facing a labour shortage, and will need to find new skilled workers for the next five years, according to a CHBA-NL news release.
In 2011 the Newfoundland and Labrador residential construction industry was valued at $1.8 billion, supplied 14,200 jobs and paid out $700 million in wages.
