Letters to the Editor -

Dear Editor:

Please find attached a copy of a letter to Hon. James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

On Friday July 31,2009, a long history will come to an end in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador, when CBC Radio will finish its days of broadcasting there.
Since 1949, CBC Radio has been a landmark in Grand Falls and its morning show hosted by Randy Larcombe has one of the highest ratings in the province.
A while back, I do believe a community in Northern Ontario was going to lose its CBC station and the people protested and eventually the station was broadcasting once again.
I know that the people, workers and union have protested against these cuts but it seems to be falling on deaf ears.
I know that joining the Canadian Alliance and the Progressive Conservative Party formed the Conservative Party, but let's go back to the roots of the Canadian Alliance, which came from the Reform Party under Preston Manning.
Mr. Manning did believe in Canadian culture and CBC is a great part of that culture. So, I hope you will have a change of heart and please stop the cutting of this CBC station.
Minister Moore you have about nine days to save our radio station.

Dave Barker
