Pay attention Premier

Premier Ball:

I'm from Grand Falls/Windsor and recently our town council has come under criticism about the vote that was taken by our council's Salmon Festival Committee to proceed with the 2015 concert.

In the 1999 Municipality Act, Part 213,Section 3 it states that in order for a committee vote (privileged meeting) to be made valid it has to be voted on in a full council (public meeting) which it wasn't.

I have asked Municipal Affairs to investigate this violation of the act. As a former mayor you know that in order for a committee vote to be made valid it has to go through this process.

When you ran for the Liberal leadership I voted for you. The reason was when you said that you were going to put ethics back into politics.People in this province have been hearing this for years but nothing has ever happened.

We also have another issue and that is Rodney Mercer. Since he will be working for you, isn't he in a conflict of interest if he doesn't resign his seat?

If an issue ever came between the government and Grand Falls-Windsor who is Mr. Mercer going to support?

As I said about ethics in politics it is like the old saying: " time to practice what one preaches"
