Police responded to a complaint of Burton being intoxicated, having assaulted another male and later seen in possession of a firearm. He was also reported to have been riding in the community on an all-terrain vehicle while holding a shotgun.
Burton was located and arrested by police near his residence in Miles Cove and has been charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, uttering threats, unlawful possession of a firearm, assault, driving while disqualified, and breach of probation.
Burton appeared in Grand Falls-Windsor provincial court Thursday afternoon and was released on a recognizance with strict conditions to remain away from the communities of Port Anson and Miles Cove.
He is expected be back in court Aug. 10 in Grand Falls-Windsor.
