Impaired causing bodily harm case set over

The provincial Crown requested that the matter against 19-year-old Cory Manuel be set over until Feb. 16 during an appearance in provincial court in Corner Brook Wednesday.

Manuel is charged with impaired operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm and impaired operation of vehicle causing bodily harm by exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milligrams of blood in connection with a Dec. 13 single-vehicle accident on the Trans-Canada Highway near Humber Valley Resort. A 20-year-old male passenger in the vehicle was seriously injured.

Crown attorney John Noseworthy told Judge Kymil Howe some additional information had come forward and he needed a short adjournment to review it.

Howe set the next appearance to Feb. 16 at 9:30 a.m.

Manuel wasn’t present for the appearance and was instead represented by his lawyer who appeared via telephone.
