A Ranger model side-by-side all-terrain vehicle navigating a narrow off-road trail atop an embankment near MacDougalls Brook plunged over the side on Monday.

The accident happened around 7:20 p.m.

Unconfirmed reports state that the Ranger utility vehicle had pulled over on the narrow off-road trail to allow another vehicle to pass, and the accident occurred when the driver attempted to resume his course afterwards.

The lone occupant, a male in his fifties, was taken to the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

The RCMP have not released the driver’s name and the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Const. Matthew Christie of the Port aux Basques RCMP states that alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
