CONNE RIVER, NL – The Miawpukek First Nation is celebrating its 22nd annual traditional powwow this weekend.

The three-day event kicks off today and wraps up on Sunday.

This year’s powwow will include cultural demonstrations and medicinal walks with Saqamaw Misel Joe.

Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation Minister Christopher Mitchelmore will bring greetings at the grand entry tomorrow afternoon.

The Miawpukek First Nation in Conne River is the only recognized reserve on the island of Newfoundland.
