New blood in store for Council chambers

As the deadline for nominations for candidates to fill the two town council vacancies passed on Tue., Feb. 16 Grand Falls-Windsor voters were left with seven candidates to choose from.

Candidates for the position are Dave Barker, Peggy Bartlett, Rod Bennett, Mike Browne, Shawn Feener, Neil Poole and Mondella Windsor.

The advanced poll will take place on March 5 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Grand Falls-Windsor Fire Department with the election taking place on March 8 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Election polls will be located at the Royal Canadian Legion on Queen Street, Windsor Pentecostal Church on King Street, Senior’s Recreation Complex on Edwards Place, St. Joseph’s Parish Centre on Station Road and the United Church on Church Road

The by-election is being held to fill seats that were left vacant when former mayor Al Hawkins and Rodney Mercer resigned.
