HNL hands out tourism business awards

The 2014 Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador Conference and Trade Show wrapped up Friday night with its Tourism Excellence Awards Gala in Gander.

It was a packed house as different members of the HNL board spoke to the crowd and introduced award presenters.

Heading the list of winners was Riverfront Chalets & Rafting Newfoundland in Grand Falls-Windsor, whichaccepted the Maxxim Vacations Tourism Business of the Year Award.

Chef Roary McPherson picked up an award for restaurateur of the year, while the Cruise Vision Award went to Adventure Canada.

Zip Tours took home Cal LeGrow’s award for tourism innovator of the year; the Corporate Partner of the Year Award was tucked away by Eastern Audio; and the PRIDE award went to Leaside Suites & Executive Apartments.

Meanwhile, the Shorefast Foundation picked up the Cultural Tourism Award; the Marble Inn Resort grabbed theSustainable Tourism Award; the H. Clayton Sparks Accommodator of the Year Award went to the Fogo Island Inn; and Colleen Kennedy went home with the Doug Wheeler Award.
