But Grand Falls-Windsor is soliciting local artists to submit paintings that are a little more picturesque than the graffiti, to go on these traffic controllers, which are located at all the stoplights in town.
So far they have only received two paintings by two members of Central Newfoundland Visual Arts Society (CNVAS) and while they are pleased with the submissions, they still do not have enough to do all of the controllers.
This is an endeavor that has been successful in other towns in the province and the town is now looking to residents who are not a part of CNVAS to enter their paintings for consideration.
The thought is also that maybe the people who have been tagging the controllers would like to submit a more quaint painting.
The invitation is open — anyone can submit a painting for consideration to the engineering department
