ST. LAWRENCE, NL – St. Lawrence’s annual Mardi Gras is still going strong after 58 years.
Even though a lot has changed in the town over the year, the event continues to be a great source of entertainment and camaraderie for the community.
St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Hall was filled with residents of St. Lawrence and the surrounding area on Saturday night, March 3, ready for a night of music and skits.
Normally, Mardi Gras is held over two nights – the youth on Friday and adults on Saturday.
The youth night will go ahead at a later date this year, however, due to the athletic commitments of many of the young people who would traditionally be involved.
Two plaques were presented Saturday night – one to Jake Weymouth, the other to couple Marg and Bernie Hackett – in appreciation of their many years of dedication and participation in the Mardi Gras.
