GRAND FALLS-WINDSOR, NL – The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor is once again supporting local artists by purchasing selected art pieces for its annual art procurement program.
Each year, a panel of judges selects pieces for the town to purchase. Judges for this year’s art procurement have not yet been chosen, but the panel will consist of one representative of the Central Newfoundland Visual Arts Society (CANVS), one from town council, and one from the public, chosen in consultation with CNVAS. This year the town has a budget of $3,500 to support the program.
“The selection is based on judges’ preferences; however, items of local significance are sometimes given priority,” said Mayor Barry Manuel.
The procurement program gives local artists the opportunity to sell their work and promote their talent.
Residents interested in the arts or looking to purchase local art work are invited to view the pieces under consideration this year at 1p.m. on Nov. 25 at the Corduroy Brook Center.
Residents will have the opportunity to purchase artwork after the town has made its selections.
Artists wishing to submit must be a resident of Grand Falls-Windsor. Any work by a jury member or their immediate family will not be considered for purchase.
The deadline for submissions is Nov. 25.
Submission forms including rules are available at the town hall.
