New project for Talon Energy in Port aux Basques

A major piece of the Maritime Link will be built on the southwest coast of the island.

Talon Energy has been awarded a contract related to the Maritime Link. The work will be done in Port aux Basques. A flare boom for the Hebron project, seen here, was the most recent project completed on the southwest coast.

Talon Energy Services announced Wednesday they had been awarded a fabrication contract that will be completed at the company's facility in Port aux Basques.

As part of the contract, Talon will provide project management and fabrication services for the fabrication of a 25-tonne turntable assembly to be used for storage of more than 5,000 metres of spare cable for up to 50 years.

Nexans Norway AS, the company contracted to supply, install and protect the subsea cable system between Cape Ray and Point Aconi, N.S, awarded the contract.

According to a statement from Talon, work is beginning this month with 100 per cent of the required project workforce and staff being secured within the Port aux Basques area.

Talon's previous projects in Port aux Basques included subsea structures for Technip for Husky Energy's offshore operations and a 360-tonne flare boom for Worley Parsons as part of the Hebron gravity-based structure.
