Wrestling fans take note – early next month some of the biggest wrestling names in the country will take to the ring at the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium.

For the first time ever, Legend City Wrestling (LCW) will be bringing it’s all-star pro cast to Grand Falls-Windsor June 3 as part of the island-wide “Hart Attack Tour”.

And according to Jim Thompson, promotion director with LCW, it’s going to be quite a spectacle.

“It’s going to be a great mix of Newfoundland, Atlantic and Canadian talent, with some newcomers, as well as established stars,” said Thompson, who lives in Grand Falls-Windsor.

Some of the big names that will entertain fans on the tour are two-time world heavyweight champion and WWE star “Rhino”, “Kowboy” Mike Hughes, “Mr. Fantastic,” “Krimson,” “Kiyoshi,” and many more.

One local star some will be excited to see on the roster is “Matt Burns.” His real name is Nick Byrne, and he grew up in Grand Falls-Windsor. This is his first time hitting the ring at home.

Byrne first started training to become a wrestler with Bishop’s Falls native Vid Vain in 2004, after reading a story about his homecoming show in the Advertiser. Byrne has been touring with LCW since it’s inception in 2009.

“I’m really excited to wrestle at home, it’s one of the things I’ve always wanted to do since I started wrestling,” he said, adding that he hopes to see the faces of his friends and family in the audience on June 3.

“We always put on a good show, whether there’s ten people in the audience or a thousand,” said Byrne. “We always give it our best and try to entertain everybody.”

According to Thompson, fans can expect 7-8 matches, as well as a heavyweight title match between Kowboy and the number one contender at that time.

He also said there would be a few ‘surprise’ matches thrown into the mix.

“It’s going to be a great show,” he said.

Thompson said those in attendance at the Grand Falls-Windsor show will be the first to hear an exciting announcement in the world of pro-wrestling.

While he wouldn’t provide many details on what will be announced, Thompson said it’s related to an upcoming tour, and it’s something that will change the way fans in the province will view wrestling.

Tickets for the show are now on sale at the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium box office. For more information on ticket prices or upcoming tours, check out the LCW website at www.legendcitywrestling.com, on Twitter @lcwnewfoundland, or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/legendcitywrestling.
