Pet owners rejoice!
We certainly live the best lives.
And so do our little critters, when we look after them properly.
My best friend in the whole world is a 50-pound, Golden Lab mix. His name is Reilly.
Reilly came to our little family nearly five years ago, a stray in Mount Pearl. On the day we took him in, he was slated to be put-down.
"Reilly Jam" as we affectionately call him, I'm sure, lives a life better than some children in this cruel world.
He is my constant reminder that everyday, some of the world's greatest pets are missing out on a life like his.
As a reporter in St. John's, I visited the SPCA in the city on many occasions.
I'd interview the Special Constables on cases of animal abuse, an overwhelming number of stray cats, and a growing list of homes that are needed for these unwanted, yet beautiful creatures.
The situation is the same across the province, and here in central.
The Exploits Valley SPCA is bursting at its seams. Cats are being found in landfills, scouring for food and shelter.
