The Newfoundland Liquor Corporation (NLC) released a statement earlier today regarding a safety recall of a product sold in Liquor Stores across the province, including the Grand Falls-Windsor location.
The product affected is Woody’s Sasparilla Original Alcoholic Beverage. The NLC said in the release it has voluntarily recalled the item, and suspended all sales of this product. The recall was made as a result of glass particles discovered in the product by another Canadian liquor jurisdiction. To date, no contamination has been reported in any products sold in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has also posted a warning advising that Woody’s Sasparilla Original Alcoholic Beverage may contain harmful glass fragments. There have not been any reported injuries associated with consumption of this product.
Customers who have previously purchased Woody’s Sasparilla Original Alcoholic Beverage may return the product to their local Liquor Store or Liquor Express for a full refund.
