26-year-old Christopher Antle will be appearing in Grand Falls-Windsor Provincial court today for a bail hearing related to an incident involving a firearm.
The man allegedly pointed an assault rifle at a young woman and threatened to shoot her.
According to Constable Rory Jeddore with the Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP the incident occurred in a Main Street apartment around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. The complainant was apparently known to the accused.
Antle was arrested and taken into custody. He will be answering to a number of charges including assault with a weapon, assault, without lawful excuse pointing a firearm, and without lawful excuse handing a firearm to wit an assault rifle. He is also being charged with two breaches of failure to comply with an undertaking.
Police obtained and executed a warrant yesterday to locate the weapon in question, and the house was cordoned off for a number of hours.
No one was hurt in the incident.
