Two youth recovering


On May 3 at 05:49 am, Bay d'Espoir, NL RCMP responded to a single vehicle accident on the main road in Conne River. Upon arrival, the ambulance and fire department were on scene. A vehicle was located in the ditch on its side and had received extensive damage.

The 17-year-old driver along and the 16 year old and 18 year old passengers were transported to the St. Alban's clinic. The driver was released with minor injuries, while the passengers were transported to the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander.

As of Wednesday, May 9 the two males involved in the accident were at a hospital in St. John’s. One passenger was doing well while the other was still in serious condition.

The female driver, the only passenger wearing a seat belt, received a few minor scrapes and was released from the St. Alban’s clinic soon after the accident.


The cause of the accident is under investigation. A Traffic Services collision analyst is examining the scene.
