Escaped prisoners arrested

Escaped prisoners Terrance Payne, 27, of Bishop’s Falls and Timothy Gunn, 19, of Peterview have been arrested by the RCMP.

Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP arrested the two escaped inmates separately Wednesday night.

The RCMP says that throughout the day Wednesday and into the night, officers followed up on numerous tips and sightings from the general public until they were arrested without incident.

The two will be brought back to the Bay St. George area to face charges in relation to this matter.

Both had escaped from the West Coast Correctional Centre in Stephenville early Tuesday morning and the RCMP had issued warnings to the public not to approach them or to avoid picking up hitchhikers matching their description, as both men have violent criminal records.
