The Salmon Festival, Grand Falls-Windsor's summer celebration, has lost money for the third straight year.

The four-day event, which features a huge concert on Centennial Field, lost $46,000 this year. Figures regarding the event were released at last night's town council meeting.

Included in the payouts this year was a $150,000 bill for Akon, one of the concert's major acts.

first of all, what are the goals of the Salmon Festival, if its about making money on its own, then this is a problem.

If its an investment in the town, as a mechanism to bring new money into the economy of GFW...that's another thing...is it worth losing money on the concert to bring money into the town's business sector??

    just asking.
