A local man who recently passed away is having his memory honoured in a touching and appropriate way.
The Corduroy Brook Enhancement Association's (CBEA) Walk for the Future has been renamed the Owen Grimes Memorial Walk. Mr. Grimes, who passed away this summer, was an active volunteer in many organizations within Grand Falls-Windsor and was an avid user of the Corduroy Brook Nature Trail.
"We recognized the fact that Owen was such a good user of the trail as well as a big supporter of the association," said Barry Manuel, executive director of the association. "With our walk, he took it upon himself in recent years to go out and raise a significant amount of money for the association.
"With all of those things in mind, I knew (his) family wanted to do something to honour his memory, so we did some thinking between us. We thought it would be appropriate to change the name of our walk."
