Health Minister Jerome Kennedy was in the community Monday to announce the funding, which is additional to more than $30 million included in the 2010 provincial budget.
The funding will see $2.75 million go towards equipment such as 16 dialysis machines, a new ambulance, new drug distribution and cardiac management systems and 10 dialysis and lift chairs, among other items.
Almost $700,000 will go towards upgrades of nursing call systems, roof repairs and hot water tanks at the facility.
